Introduction

Thanks for visiting!

If you're here, it's because you've been invited to review the book: "Romancing the Tuba".

The book started as a personal collection of tuba excerpts, but steadily grew over the years as I recorded much needed context with each piece. It contains some historical research (including a visit to archives in Berlin to study the original tuba patent), and some math envy as I worked to decode how brass instruments really work.

I need some help from reviewers before publishing. Constructive feedback will help me to polish the content and make the book more useful. Endorsements, especially from teachers, professors, or professional tubists are vital to securing a publishing deal. This book is not a casual read and only has merit if it has academic value. Your endorsement is needed to convince publishers of this.

As the book is not yet published, it cannot be freely distributed, especially since there are still some copyrights to secure. I ask that you please refrain from sharing this draft without talking to me first.

In this digital PDF format, it is best to read the book on a tablet, or on a widescreen monitor, using a PDF viewer with a "Dual" viewing mode and with odd-pages on the right. To work well with printers, margins are not symmetrical, and this can be a bit jarring if you're reading it on a single-page reader. A few blank pages can also be seen on left-hand pages, as chapters always start on a right-hand page. Also note that pages are tailored with a 3mm bleed. In the printed version, the outer 3mm will be trimmed.

The PDF is quite large to download and store (over 200MB). This is because the images are not compressed, and print-quality requires much higher resolution than is needed for screen-viewing. Please excuse the large size.
